Differential Fuel Flow Adaptor
|
Differential Fuel Flow Adaptor
- The FDIFF adapter makes life simpler and cheaper when interfacing engines with fuel/vapour return lines (eg
Rotax 912/914) to engine monitoring equipment (fuel flow meters, engine monitors, EFIS systems).
- Accurate fuel flow measurement requires two fuel flow senders- one in the main feed line, one in the return line and instruments that calculate fuel flow from the difference between the two (feed – return). This often requires additional hardware (an extra RDAC). It also means some of the integrated engine monitoring units with a single flow sender input are not able to be used.
- The FFDIFF solves those problems. It connects between the two flow senders and the engine monitoring equipment. It behaves like a single fuel flow sender, outputting the true fuel flow (feed – return). Easy to install, the matchbox size unit can be placed in your engine bay or behind the panel.
- Two inputs for Fuel Flow senders (Senders must have the same K factor).
- One pulse output which is seen by instrument as a single Fuel Flow sender, calculation of the difference of the two Fuel Flow senders
- Max frequency 250Hz (150 L/Hr for K factor=6000)
- Dimensions: 45 x 35 x 20mm
- Cord is 170cm approx.
- Power supply 5Vdc
- Weight: 60g environ

MGL EGT Temperature probe
- Top quality, high temperature EGT probe.
This unit can be used up to 1200 degrees C (2000 degrees F) short-term and 1100 degrees C indefinite.
- Made from 310 grade stainless steel the probe will remain firm at high temperatures making this an excellent choice for turbo charged high performance engines.
- The probes are fitted with a stainless steel armored, mineral fiber insulated cable.
Cable length 100cm
- Threaded type
The bolt has a 8x1 thread (Metric fine thread) as used by Rotax for their exhaust manifolds. The bolt is made from high tensile steel and is compatible with mild steel exhaust systems from a temperature expansion rate point of view
Probe diameter 4.8mm, length 23mm.
- Clamp type
Caution: Holes must be drilled to 5mm exactly. Hole too big will leave significant blow by. This can get very hot and damage the probe. Drill with a 4.8mm bit, then ream the hole slightly until probe has a gas tight fit.
Probe diameter 5.0mm, length 16 or 25mm.
Probe diameter 5.0mm
Small Clamp diameter 55 - 30mm, probe length 16mm
Large Clamp diameter 65 - 40mm, probe length 25mm

MGL Sonde CHT
- These "under the sparkplug" CHT probes are popular choices for CHT temperature monitoring.
- One piece water cut pure copper ring and probe seat
- 1 meter (3ft) cable length
- K-type thermocouple
- CHT probes are available in sizes 6, 10, 12, 14, 18 mm (inside diameter ring).
- Most automotive engines use 14mm plugs, the Jabiru engine and Rotax 912/914 use 12mm plugs. The big Lycomings and Continentals use 18mm plugs. Some motorbike engines use small 10mm plugs.
- ROTAX 91x: Use of thermocouple CHT probes on RDAC (instead of resistive probes) will free measurement channels CHT1/CHT2 for other use (i.e. fuel pressure, carb temperature, etc...)
- The 6 and 10mm probe are popular for use as general temperature monitoring probe and can easily be bolted down (gearbox temperature etc).
- Please note: These are pure copper probes and will quickly coat with a thin layer of oxide when exposed to air. If desired, this can be removed easily with Hyrochloric acid (pool acid) but this does not affect the probes performance.

- Compatible with Rotax912 where CHT temperature probes on cylinders 2 and 3 are under the cylinder head.
- Caution: On recent Rotax912 models, the CHT temperature probes are above the cylinder head and touch the liquid. "Baïonet" probes are not waterproof and therefore not compatible with that type of cylinder heads.
- Using thermocouple CHT probes (instead of original ROTAX resistive probes) allows freeing RDAC's CHT1/CHT2 channels for other uses (i.e. fuel pressure, carb temperature, etc...)
- Using thermocouple CHT probes (instead of original ROTAX resistive probes) allows freeing E-1 or E3 resistive channels for Oil temperature and pressure
- TC probes are more accurate than resistive probes, and measurement is not affected by ground return errors
The probes are supplied with 10cm of Teflon insulated cable, heat resistant to 300°C.
Use TC cable for extension
Using TC connectors allows easy access to the probe.

Closed Loop Current Sensor
|
MGL Magnetic Current Sender
-
The magnetic closed loop current sensor provides a 0.5V to 4.5Vdc output voltage which is proportional to a 50A bi- directional input current.
- Advantages of closed loop current sensors over conventional current measurements techniques is that they provide the highest accuracy, are ideal for noisy electrical environments and they provide complete electrical isolation f rom the current carrying conductor.
- The sensor connects to an EFIS system via spare RDAC inputs. Inputs Current, CHT1, CHT2, OIl pressure or Oil temerature can be used and these can also be used on a second RDAC unit (consider a low cost RDAC XG as second RDAC if required). G1 and G2 EFIS systems can support up to 4 of these sensors while Enigma can support 2.
- Complete electrical isolation from the current being measured
- Current can be measured in any conductor, regardless of electrical potential relative to the measuring system.
- Can measure currents bi-directional, for example battery charge/discharge
- Measurement range:
- +/-50A (with one wire passage through the hole)
- +/-25A (with two wire passages through the hole)
- +/-10A (with five wire passages through the hole)
- Sensitivity: 39mV/A (per wire passage through the hole)
- Dimensions : 41 x 37 x 36 mm approx.
- Wiring length: 1m approx.
- Weight : 50g approx.

MGL Magnetic Current Sender
- This sensor can be used to measure DC currents in aircraft power systems in a wide range from less than +/-4A to as high as +/-120A depending on installation and configuration
- The sensor connects to an EFIS system via spare RDAC inputs. Inputs CHT1,CHT2,OIl pressure or Oil temerature can be used and these can also be used on a second RDAC unit (consider a low cost RDAC VD as second RDAC if required). G1 and G2 EFIS systems can support up to 4 of these sensors while Enigma can support 2.
- Simple to apply
- Complete electrical isolation from the current being measured
- Current can be measured in any conductor, regardless of electrical potential relative to the measuring system.
- No need to cut the conductor to insert a current measuring shunt and introduce a possible point of failure.
- can measure currents bi-directional, for example battery charge/discharge
- Measurement range from +/-4A to +/-120A
- Dimensions : 39 x 44 x 3 mm approx.
- Wiring length: 2m approx.
- weight : 25g approx.
