MGL Stratomaster RDAC
RDAC = Remote Data Aquisition Computer)
Some MGL Avionics systems (E2, Extreme, ULTRA, XTreme, Enigma, Voyager, Odyssey, iEFIS) use a Remote Data Acquisition Computer module for engine data acquisition.
Some 57mm Vega instruments an also display data provided by a RDAC.
This architecture makes the installation easy, since there is no need to extend sender cables all the way to the cockpit.
The RDAC is installed close to the engine, and connects to the display system with a shielded two wires cable.
Click to view a page describing RDAC/EFIS architecture
There are several versions of RDAC. Currently available:

Four to twelve channel thermocouple amplifier, high resolution chopper stabilized system with full cold junction compensation and bow voltage correction to laboratory standards.
The thermocouple inputs can accept K-type or J-type thermocouples. (Note: RDAC-XF maximum 50mV, e.g. 1200°C type "K" and 850°C type "J")
Oil and Water temperature NTC input compatible with most oil temperature senders and the MGL water temperature sender.
Also accepts MGL precision semiconductor senders for water and oil temperature.
Use of thermocouple CHT probes on RDAC (instead of resistive probes) will free measurement channels CHT1/CHT2 for other use (i.e. fuel pressure, carb temperature, etc...)
Optional LM335 sensor based temperature sender to indicate ice warning. The sender is normally fitted to the outside of a carburetor, in close proximity to the throttle slider or valve or in the intake airflow.
Oil pressure sender input. 50 to 1000 ohms. Accepts most commercial oil pressure senders including those from VDO. Rotax uses a 200 ohm sender
TWO Fuel level sender input with extensive calibration functions provided to allow direct readout of fuel quantity corrected for tank shape and sender tolerances.
Fuel flow sender input(s). Can be used with most commercial liquid flow senders. Flow measurement without sender on injection systems by measurement of injector opening time.
Universal rev counter input(s). Can be used on a wide variety of engines using a variety of interface methods.

MGL Stratomaster RDAC-XG
The RDAC XG is a compact version of the RDAC XF Engine monitor module and can be used used with XTreme, Odyssey G2, Voyager G2 and all iEFIS instruments.
The RDAC XG provides a CAN bus interface. Further to this a RS232 interface is provided allowing third party (OEM) use of the RDAC system.
The RDAC XG is fully compatible with the larger RDAC XF subject to the following differences:
- 8 Channels Thermocouple system (vs 12 channels in the RDAC XF)
- 1 RPM input (vs 2 in the RDAC XF)
- 1 Fuel flow sender input (vs 2 in the RDAC XF)
- No manifold pressure sensor option
- The RDAC XF uses convenient screw terminals for connection of senders while the RDAC XG uses DB9 and DB25 connectors with supplied pre-made cables.

MGL Stratomaster RDAC-XFM
The RDAC XF is the Engine monitor module used with Xtreme, Ultra, Enigma, Odyssey, Voyager and all iEFIS instruments.
AThe RDAC XF MAP has a precise silicon manifold pressure sender (usuable for any pressure in the 0 to 2.5 Bar (30psi) range (non aggressive gases or liquids only).
The RDAC XF provides an optically isolated communications interface compatible with all existing MGL EFIS systems. In addition it provides a CAN bus interface used with iEFIS systems. Further to this a RS232 interface is provided allowing thrid party (OEM) use of the RDAC system.
The RDAC XF provides up to 12 channels for thermocouple sensors (EGT,CHT), channels dedicated to NTC temperature and other probe types, oil and fuel pressure, fuel levels, dual fuel flow and dual RPM, manifold or boost pressure (RDAC XF MAP only)
The RDAC XF is quick and easy to install thanks to our well proven use of vibration proof moving cage wire terminals. These terminals allow quick attachement of wires and are very useful during typical sensor fault finding.
The RDAC XF replaces the long running RDAC XB, XD and XE versions with a more flexible, yet sturdy design in a strong, cast aluminium bulkhead mount device.

MGL Stratomaster RDAC-CAN (Rotax 921iS)
The RDAC CAN module can be used with Odyssey/Voyager G2 EFIS systems, the XTreme EFIS and EMS as well as all iEFIS systems.
The RDAC CAN module connects to the EFIS CAN bus and the CAN bus of an engine ECU system.
The first model release caters for the Rotax 912iS engine which has two ECU systems and uses the CAN Aerospace data format.
The RDAC CAN connects to both data lanes of the Rotax 912iS (ECU A and ECU B) and continues to provide engine data from lane B in case of a lane A data failure depending on user selection of the DIP switches.
The RDAC CAN can be configured as "lane exclusive" - in this mode it can be fixed to a particular lane of the Rotax 912iS. The RDAC CAN emulates RDAC 1 (Lane A) and RDAC 2 (lane B). For twin engined applications, RDACs 3 and 4 can be emulated in similar fashion.
The RDAC CAN further provides two fuel level sender inputs, one fuel pressure sender input and a current sensor input.
The fuel level sender inputs are compatible with resistive fuel senders but can also be used with any fuel level sender that can provide a DC output in the 0-3V range (internal pull-up resistors used for the resistive level senders can be switched off).
The current sensor input provides for a system that provides a zero current voltage of 2.5V with a range of 2.5V above/below this value.
The fuel pressure sender input accepts a 0-5V or 0.5-4.5V sender input range such as the popular senders available from UMA.

The RDAC CAN module connects to the EFIS CAN bus and the CAN bus of an engine ECU system.
The model caters for the UL Power range of engines engine which have two ECU systems and uses the CAN Aerospace data format as well as a RS232 interface.
The RDAC CAN connects to both ECUs of the UL Power engine (ECU A and ECU B) and continues to provide engine data from lane B in case of a lane A data failure depending on user selection of the DIP switches.
The RDAC CAN can be configured as "lane exclusive" - in this mode it can be fixed to a particular lane of the UL Power engine. The RDAC CAN emulates RDAC 1 (ECU A) and RDAC 2 (ECU B). For twin engined applications, RDACs 3 and 4 can be emulated in similar fashion.
The RDAC CAN also provides a RS232 interface that can be used with UL Power engines that do not provide a CAN interface. For engines that provide both CAN and RS232 both may be connected providing extra redundancy.
The RDAC CAN further provides two fuel level sender inputs and a current sensor input.
The fuel level sender inputs are compatible with resistive fuel senders but can also be used with any fuel level sender that can provide a DC output in the 0-3V range (internal pull-up resistors used for the resistive level senders can be switched off).
