Current version numbers: FlightOps system G2 1.2.0.2 Odyssey application G2 A3.0.0.6 Details of current firmware upgrade: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A3.0.0.6 2 November 2018 This update adds support for GIF89 format image tiles for MapMaker2 format raster maps. This supports Chris Kurz’s OFM map creation utility. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A3.0.0.5 4 June 2018 Release of accumulated minor fixes and improvements. In particular: Update of system to support Trig Avionics VHF transceivers (as per iEFIS), port of current firmware as used on iEFIS. Update of system to support MGL Avionics V16 VHF transceiver including updates to radio stack. Note: RX playback should be wired to external button as documented in V16 manual if needed, this function cannot be used from EFIS. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- C3.0.0.4 19 March 2017 Fixed an issue with remote control of VHF V10. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- B3.0.0.4 19 August 2016 Fixed an issue with F5 Route Manager. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A3.0.0.4 18 August 2016 Several fixes for reported issues. Also fixes turn under AP control during flightplan waypoint advance - new track was drawn from current position to next waypoint rather than from waypoint to next waypoint. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- C3.0.0.3 3 June 2016 Several fixes and improvements. Added feature to allow selection of original track or direct-to if manually changing waypoint in active flight plan. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A3.0.0.3 26 February 2016 Major update of the G2 Odyssey/Voyager system Ported windowing system from G2 iEFIS Added: iEFIS flightplan component and flightplan (route) system. Activate via left keypad “RT” Left keypad then contains functional options including route flip, info - direct link to airport info as well as waypoint info. Ability to end flightplan or select any waypoint as current (use up/down arrow keys - enter selects chosen waypoint). HOLD sets a hold at current waypoint (with options). This is also available as new component for a fixed flightplan display on any custom screen - in this case it is a passive display. Added/Changed: The divert system has been changed to follow the multipoint divert on-map definition as per iEFIS. For this the map is placed into pan mode allowing rotary controls and arrow keys to select a location and the left keypad has the functions to add divert points, delete point and activate the divert (or cancel the attempt). Diverts allow you to insert a multi-point route ending in the next flightplan waypoint (also works if you just have a normal direct-to waypoint active). Diverts are started and an active divert is canceled via the map menu. Changed: Airspace drawing is now “active” in the sense that all airspaces that you are inside of or are ahead (according to your airspace look-ahead criteria - active in flight only) are drawn with normal borders while all other airspaces are drawn with thin borders. In addition airspace information as selected per zoom level is shown only for qualifying airspaces. During map pan - all borders are drawn fully and all airspace info is shown the first time - after that the airspace at the map center is highlighted and info shown for that airspace. Changed: Text positioning/ellimiantion engine changed. Text on maps, airspace information, map icons and text will be suppressed when such text causes overwriting - text info thus gets sparser with reducing zoom in busy areas. This significantly declutters the map - in particular the vector map. Added: The tone sequence engine from the iEFIS has been ported. You now have the same tone pitch and sequence functionality for AOA and vario as available for the iEFIS. A new setup menu for the tone generator is in the system setup menu. Added: Economy text item: This shows fuel consumption for a given distance based on your range calculation setup. A host of smaller detail improvements have been ported mostly from the iEFIS development where this was possible. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 B3.0.0.2 08 December 2015 Changed SL30 automatic nav selection to take superflags into account (SL30 will only set nav solution if flags are valid). Fixed: possible system restart when changing map types or changing pages which lead to a change of map types. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A3.0.0.2 02 October 2015 Fixes an issue to allow updating of the Trig Transponder interface firmware. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A3.0.0.1 19 August 2015 Fixes minor reported issues. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 C3.0.0.0 2 july 2015 Removes map menu from pages that do not have a map. Fixes resource conflict with video input codec caused by new map engine. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 B3.0.0.0 1 july 2015 Fixed: Night display, no pan left or right, no plates -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A3.0.0.0 30 June 2015 Added track up raster maps support for maps created with MapMaker 2 (Raster maps new format). Added ability to choose from several raster map suptypes identified by file name extension: .MAP (standard), .VFR .TAC .HIG .LOW .IFR .WAC. These files are standard Mapmaker 2 files with the file extension changed to allow use of maps of various categories. Map selections (Raster, Vector, Plates, North up, Track up as well as Raster map subtype) are now selected and stored on a per page bases. This means you can have for example a Raster map North up on one page, Vector track up on another and plates on a third. Your selection is maintained through a power down cycle. Selection of map type (Raster, Vector, Plates) done using MAP menu; Plates have a new option.: A new selection called “Plate” is available. This is used to select another plate from your last airports selection. This means, in order to select another plate from the same airport you do no longer have to reselect that airport. Added ability to update firmware on V6 and V10 radios connected to a RS232 serial port (Current compatible firmware files will be made available shortly). Added map PAN function: Accessible via MAP menu. During PAN mode map can be panned using arrow keys as well as rotary controls. Rotary controls move a small or large distance depending if the control if pressed in during rotation. Panning is always “North up” regardless of chosen mode. During panning the map menu provides functions to perform a “goto” or create a waypoint or end the panning function. During panning a field is shown with distance and time information to the current PAN location (center of map on screen). Fixed: If very large airspace databases are used (containing many thousands of airspace boundary definitions) it was possible that the system would restart when processing this data. This was caused by the systems watchdog system causing a restart as the process was deemed to take too long. Added: Support for ICE warning sensor on AUX2 if RDAC XF on CAN bus is used. Changed: If navigation radio on serial port is receiving glide slope the system will remain in altitude bug mode until ILS is selected as NAV source. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 B2.0.0.2 28-jan-15 Changed: Traffic warning. It is a two level system - the first level only shows the screen message, the second as the audio warning as well. In the past some sources would only trigger the screen warning. It still is two level but now we make the level dependent on the distance of the target. If the target is within 50% to 100% of the distance you specify (horizontal and vertical) then you get a warning every ten seconds (after the initial warning). If it gets closer than 50% then it goes up to every 5 seconds. Audio and screen now always together. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A2.0.0.2 23-jan-15 Fixed: Filser and XCOM radios communications was not working hen connected to RS232 port 1 Fixed: Real time clock was not showing correct date due to a new compiler optimization technique that broke old code that used a sneaky backdoor that now no longer worked. Fixed: XRX PCAS altitude with new traffic system now works as expected. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A2.0.0.1 28-nov-14 Added: New unified traffic system, new ADSB traffic system. Traffic information display accessible from left keypad DSP button (if at least one traffic target present. New traffic symbols with velocity and track vector, vertical climb or descent indication on map. 2D traffic overlay on synthetic vision (enable in 3D view menu) with tracking rubber band to closest traffic target. Added: Banking pitch ladder option (3D view setup menu). Added: HSI turnpoint indicators (enable in navigation setup menu) Changed: Range rings now follow non-fractional distance steps (also fewer rings shown on most zoom levels) Changed: External AP: If missed approach is selected, vertical control goes to altimeter bug with bug set to current altitude + 1000ft if the bug is set to less than this level. If ILS is slected and glide slope not valid, will remain on altitude bug until glide slope valid. If glide slope drops out, will return to altitude bug. Fixed: Roll trim limits can now go to 4095 to suit SP-10 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 D2.0.0.0 27-sept-14 Fixed: an issue that would result in multiple file copy to be abandoned due to a write error detect that was not real. This affects systems fitted with a certain batch of SD cards. Note: Version “C”: Internal release. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 B2.0.0.0 18-sept-14 Added: Implemented new requirements for Navworx transceiver as per new ICD. Fixed: AP tendency to favor left turns for large, sudden course changes. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A2.0.0.0 3 september 14 This release introduces a new exception processing model. On a hardware exception the system will not longer stop but attempt to handle the error and continue. Due to the widespread changes this requires in operating system, EFIS application and development tools version has changed to 2.x.x.x Added: High resolution GPS track log functionality from G3 Changed: Flight folio data export now in ASCII text file format. Changed: Low level SD card firmware ported from iEFIS G2 which results in improved reliability writing to external SD cards. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A1.2.0.9 14 august 14 This release contains a number of smaller internal fixes and improvements based mainly on current work on the iEFIS system. Main improvement is around the new MapMaker2 raster map system. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A1.2.0.8 11 july 14 Changed/Added: Ported iEFIS serial port setup and functionality. Selection of serial port function from drop down list, added all current iEFIS supported radios. Fixed: Memory de-allocation issue related to vector maps could in rare cases cause a crash. Fixed: Autopilot automatic roll trim enable was missing. Fixed: SP10 selection for pitch/roll trim was not remembered after a power cycle. Improved: In Navigation setup you have the option of using the "0" key to first attempt to show airport info on the current active waypoint (and then going to nearest or straight to nearest if there is no airport info). Improved: On the "Live flightplan" there is an option to press the "0" key again that would take you to nearest airports. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A1.2.0.7 Added: Support for new Raster map format (MapMaker2 format). Fixed: Depending on last code used, transponder could startup with code “0000” after power cycle. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A1.2.0.6 6 may 14 Changed: Several changes to system to reduce risk of Jeppesen navdata install failure and also allow reinstallation under some circumstances. Changed: Drawing of Class E and D airspaces. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A1.2.0.5 10 april 14 Added: If choosing waypoints by using the filter, filter remains active after closing allowing forward paging in filtered results (handy if filtered results are more than one page in length). Separate function to close filter and return to normal waypoint view mode (sorted by distance). Added: Ability to base ETA on UTC rather than local time (Navigation setup menu). Added: Ability to synchronize internal real time clock to GPS UTC time taking local UTC offset into account. Please enter desired local UTC offset in Common Tasks Menu. Synchronization can be enabled in GPS setup menu. It will sync time once per power cycle after stable GPS fix received for at least 2 minutes. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A1.2.0.4 31 jan 14 Fixed: W&B aircraft image would not display under certain conditions. Changed: Checklists may have long filenames. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A1.2.0.3 18 nov 13 Added support for new Garmin GTR and GNC 225 COM and NAV/COM radios. Support for these radios is bundled into the SL30/SL40 communications protocol. As a result the system autodetects SL30/SL40 and GTR/CNC. In Serial port setup and routing select "Garmin COM or Garmin NAV/COM" which replaces the previous "SL30 and SL40" selections. Please note that for autodetect to work you need to wire both RX and TX. The system defaults to SL30/SL40 until new radios detected. Support includes 8.33Khz channel spacing (GTR/GNC only). Changed: ARINC autopilot now allows navigate on VOR/ILS/GVOR/GLS (previous: GPS Nav and Heading bug). Changed: On SL30, VOR now ignores "Superflag" and reacts on radial valid signal only. Changed: Transponder entry field colors during entry to give clearer indication when entry is in progress/done Fixed: Additional work on Text position engine to avoid overflow issues (aftects mainly airspace look-ahead). ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A1.2.0.2 Added: Support for new SP-10 Flap and Trim controller Added: Autopilot Autotrim if MGL Servos are used. Autotrim requires either a SP-10 or VPX to control the trim servos. Autotrim is enabled seperately for roll and pitch in the relevant autopilot setup menu. Added: Trim request component. This component can be placed on a screen and will indicate trim up/down and/or left/right based on trim sensing MGL servos. This can be used if autotrim is not available (no SP-10 or VPX). Changed: Garmin 430 ARINC related: Revert to internal autopilot steering algorithms for VOR and ILS with external ARINC autopilot even if lateral steering passthrough is selected (i.e. passthrough is only used for GPS based navigation). If heading bug nav source is selected, Garmin is ignored for autopilot purposes and autopilot follows requested heading. Fixed: Possible watchdog system reset can occur if map page viewed with a large amount of text. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 B1.2.0.1 Amended: When using external GPS connected to NMEA port it is now possible to select baudrate between 9600 and 19200 (previously fixed to 9600). GPS and NMEA setup menu. "B" release: Fixes GPS startup problem pertaining to a limited number of systems fitted with a high grade GPS variant and recent changes to the GPS startup initialisation. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A1.2.0.1 29 août 13 Fixed possible crash when airspace related writing on map exceeds bottom right map boundary by a large amount. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A1.2.0.0 28 août 13 Port of current iEFIS new functionality to Odyssey/Voyager G2: New mapping engine. New route functionality including edit of live route. New map symbology, range, time rings and altitude intercept line. Notes for Simulator/Screen designer: Note: The installer now installs as default to C:\MGL Avionics\iEFIS Tools\Odyssey SIM. The roaming data folder or program files folder is no longer used. The EFIS data files you will now find in C:\MGL Avionics\iEFIS Tools\Odyssey SIM\EFISDisk. This has been done to avoid compatibility issues with various flavours of the Windows Operating system and is compatible with the way the iEFIS now works as well. If you have used the screen designer before, please copy your project folder(s) from your current roaming data folder to the new install location. You can use a copy of the previous version and use the built in file manager to locate the folders easily. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A1.1.1.0 9 july 13 Changed compass user interface and low level routines to support new SP-6 in-flight calibration compass firmware (older SP-6 units can be upgraded, requires RS232 port on a Windows platform, please contact your dealer). If new SP-6 is connected via airtalk - please select "In-flight calibration type" in compass setup. This option is suppressed if you connect via CAN as the software can identify the new SP-6 firmware. Lineup-correction can now be suppressed by the user. This is generally recommend to remain switched off if you use the "in-flight" calibration SP-6. You can however still use it if you prefer. Updated Earth magnetic field data and aging data to latest magnetic survey results from NIMA. Reduced vector map "base map" intensity supression when in any map display mode that includes aeronautical information. Ported word split functionality from iEFIS for error and timed status messages (prevents cutting text in the middle of a word for longer messages). ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A1.1.0.9 Changed: ARINC based external navigation (Garmin Nav system etc). In the navigation menu (left NAV button) there is a new selection that allows switching between internal and external (ARINC) navigation. This will only show if relevant ARINC labels are being received. This avoids the problem where the ARINC navigation system can override internal navigation as it has a higher priority in the system. Thus you can now use internal EFIS navigation even if the external system has a valid navigation solution and transmits this. As a side effect of this new switch, the ARINC route selection option in the route manager has been removed as this is now implied. Changed: If the external ARINC navigation system provides an ARINC autopilot lateral steering label (label 121) AND an external ARINC based autopilot is connected to the EFIS, the label can be forwarded to the autopilot unchanged. This can can enabled/disabled in the ARINC setup menu. Note: This is only allowed if external ARINC navigation is enabled using the above described new option. For local navigation a locally created label 121 will be used if navigation is internal. If the internal AP is used: With external ARINC navigation selected, the internal AP will use the externally supplied lateral steering label 121 as cue (regardless of state of the local HSI). Note: In ARINC setup you need to enable lateral steering passthrough or else this is disabled. If this label is not received valid, the AP will use the HSI. For internal navigation, the HSI is used as before. Changed: Airspace boundary drawing (vector map) now uses semi-transparent, coloured wide lines with a thin solid line in the same color at the outside of the airspace boundary. This way it is possible to determine the direction of the airspace if only a partial boundary is visible. Revised drawing of directional rose on vector maps (track up). Removal of range rings to help declutter (vector map, track up). Changed navaid symbol to resemble common format of VOR. Added airspace color option in Navigation setup menu. This allows selection of airspace drawing scheme based on FAA sectionals (with colors chosen to be daylight readable so not an exact match) or the traditional high contrast scheme. Note: Restricted airspaces will always be shown in bright red regardless of scheme. Airspace details (text) drawing on map now with collision avoidance. Text is tagged to airspace boundary via thin line. Added: A set of navigation related display options for the simple status draw component. Also, new status draw color options. Added: Current waypoint re-track. This allows centering of the CDI for the currently active waypoint. This also sets the GPS OBS to the current track to waypoint. This is activated by performing "SHIFT+Goto" twice. The first gets you into the familiar direct "goto" menu, while this is open performing this again will perform the re-track and exit the menu. The re-track also appears as function in "Menu 1" if a waypoint is active. Improved: Loading of MIF graphics files for use as screen background is now much faster (background image component). This images are now loaded directly into frame buffer memory by the CPU rather than inserted pixel by pixel into the GPU display list. Ported all recent changes to analog instruments for purposes of usage with background image component from iEFIS. Added new turn&bank indicator component from iEFIS. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A1.1.0.8 Added: Port of airspace look ahead functionality from iEFIS. Also includes backcut component (allows placing a small map which is drawn on background layer "onto" synthetic vision screen). Backcut needs to be placed more or less as last component in list - it will copy a rectangular area from background layer to forground layer). Note: Setup airspace look ahead time and distance in Navigation setup menu. Distance applies for airspace lookahead component. The vertical airspace lookahead is a screen component so you need to create a custom screen to take advantage of this function. A sample screen number 8 is available here: Sample Flight screen that uses new Airspace vertical look ahead component (Flight8.EFM). Airspace information display is now accessible from the NAV menu (left buttons). This operates in two modes depending on whether or not your current visible screen has the airspace lookahead component. If it has you can access all airspace information shown in the look ahead display. If the screen does not have such a component then the information is as before (airspaces you are inside, above or below). Note that the lookahead contains time information that is dependent on your current speed - this allows you to accurately judge how long you will take to reach airspace boundaries at your current speed. You will also see a vertical climb/decent line to enable you to easily set suitable vertical rates to avoid airspaces. Added: Backcut component (allows placing a small map which is drawn on background layer "onto" synthetic vision screen). Backcut needs to be placed more or less as last component in list - it will copy a rectangular area from background layer to forground layer). Added: Current monitoring using the new RDAC XF dedicated current input. RDAC MUST be connected to CAN bus for this to work. You then need to set "RDAC on CAN bus" in the engine setup menu. In Voltage/Current setup, select "Current input from RDAC" in the Current setup. Note that you must, as usual, zero the current sensor once. This is typically done during installation before the sensor is exposed to any magnetic field from the wire that contains the current to measure. To simplify matters on existing installations, there is now a "set default zero" function. As the zero point tends to be quite accurate this function will set the "ideal" zero point regardless of what the sensor is putting out. This tends to get a very close zero so this can be used in most cases. Changed: Baro setting formula. In order to follow baro setting tolerances allowed more closely (according to the AS392C certification document) the formula which implements the standard atmospheric model has been tweaked. This means it is not physically correct anymore but gives the expected readings from the document. This affects mostly baro settings well above 29.92". ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A1.1.0.7 Changes to ARINC based external autopilot vertical control. Permanently enabled ARINC label 121. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A1.1.0.6 Ammended ARINC based navigation to same functionality as in current iEFIS system. Added support for PocketFMS helipads. Minor maintenance updates. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A1.1.0.5 - 10 OCT 2012 Added: Further work on ATR833 support started with last update. Further work on new NAV system: Multiple CDI on HSI, Minor fix to SL30 ILS operation. Selecting a GVOR will now no longer change the current NAV active source. Minor work on autopilot track intercept (added hysteresis to the intercept phases). Added: Autopilot, if engaged and horizontal navigation source becomes invalid will now hold last track or heading and give activate a message. Added: Autopilot: If new track is close to 180 degrees from previous track then a left turn bias is activated. Experimental: This release adds new ARINC based autopilot functionality from current state of testing based on usage of labels 324 and 122. Changed: COM extender startup could fail with new, faster boot of main system. This has been fixed. Fixed: Remote control screen change would skip screen 1 when going backwards. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A1.1.0.4 More work on new NAV system, HSI now able to show GPS NAV and VOR at the same time. Fixed: VOR needle direction flipping around for "FROM" navigation. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A1.1.0.3 Fixed: Waypoint arrival message repeating. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A1.1.0.2 New NAV system update: HSI: If in vectors mode, heading bug shown in yellow. All modes will show active VOR or ILS even if not selected. Added: Experimental support for Funkwerke ATR833-2K radio (frequency setting only at this stage) as COM1 and COM2. Minor fix to GPS-OBS rotary selection. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A1.1.0.1 New navigation system. For details see: G2 and iEFIS navigation manual. Autopilot update: New track intercept algorithms, GPS steering, non linear track incercept. Tighter vertical tracking allowance. Modifications to ILS/Glideslope tracking (part of navigation system update). ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A1.1.0.0 Internal autopilot: Modified bank algorithm to enter into a banked turn at a slower rate for a large heading change. This change is benificial for aircraft with high roll rates and allows use of 3.0 degree/second turn rates without a too rapid entry into a bank. Added CAN slave mode: New selection in renamed "USB/CAN Slave operation setup menu". In case of a dual panel system the CAN bus can now be connected to both panels and the secondary panel is set to "Secondary panel on CAN bus". In case of a dual panel system (with CAN bus on both), the autopilot can now be used from either panel. In case the main panel is active - the secondary panel sends requests to the primary panel (in other words the primary panel is still the active autpilot but you can control it from the secondary panel). In case of primary panel failure, the secondary panel can take over as full function autopilot (please ensure it has the same autopilot setup as the primary panel). Implemented impoved, high data security, dynamic memory manager. Improved CAN driver with automated restarts on serious bus failures. Implemented full support for RDAC CAN ECU and RDAC XF on CAN interface. New RDAC CAN selection in Engine setup menu (selection between traditional RDAC interface and CAN interface). CAN based SP-6 and SP-7 units can also be connected to the CAN bus. This leaves the I/O Extender as only airtalk device left. New ECU status diagnostics. Appears if RDAC CAN is connected. Shows ECU sender and engine stats including engine and ECU hours plus other items. Added HSI heading source selection in Navigation setup menu: Select between compass and GPS ground track (magnetic). ADSB: Added setting to allow 4 instead of 6 digits entry for sqauwk code (ADSB allows 6 but 4 are used at the moment to allow same codes as transponders). ADSB: Fixed an issue if less than 8 characters where used as aircraft identification (extra characters could be garbage). Icarus altitude message has been changed to a fixed width regardless of altitude as some devices expect this. Implemented full support for the Sandia Avionics STX-165R remote mode-c transponder via RS232. Transponder operation fully validated. Garrecht mode-s remote transponder fully validated including extended squitter via MGL CAN interface. GLS Approaches: The last 6 green crosses before the threshold are now spaced closer to each other for improved visual guidance as your get closer to the runway. Cosmetics: Changed background color for flight log and min/max display to black. Planned for next update: New dual navigation system with queing to allow approaches etc with minimal pilot input. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 E1.0.3.2 - 16 may 2012. Simulator and Binary Added: new option to "skip component": Skip if G-Force less than 1.5G. This allows the G-Meter to become visible automatically if 1.5G or larger is obtained. Enabled support for Garrecht transponders, added new setup for aircraft type (for ADSB out on transponder - note: ADSB unit has its own setup, this is private to the transponder). Further work on CAN message structure for Garrecht transponder (now operational except for ADS-B out). Minor changes/fixes: LOP operation select, waypoint type selection, changed LOP detection for Gami to -5 degrees from -10. Gami fuelflow display now continous after LOP detect. Audio traffic warning "Traffic 2 o'clock high" now correct (works for ARINC,ADSB and FLARM traffic only as accurate direction is needed - not possible with PCAS). ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 D1.0.3.2 - 24 April 2012. Simulator and Binary Changed: The waypoint type selection in the "Goto" menu passed all waypoints regardless of type. This is now working as expected. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 C1.0.3.2 - 18 April 2012. Simulator and Binary Added: functionality to disable PWM signal if AP not connected. This is for servos that will disengage if no PWM signal is received. Note: This only applies to PWM servos. Added: ADSB in and out for Navworx ADSB systems. New ADSB setup menu. The current update supports Map overlaid images for Nexrad radar, both regional as well as conus USA. Metars and TAFs are supported in texual format and accessible via the nearest airports menu (0 button). Display of VFR/IFR status of airfields using colored flags on map as well as Synthetic vision. Color keys on airports listing. ADSB based traffic supported as part of the EFIS traffic system. Note: Installation of an ADSB system requires use of RS232 Port 1 due to high speed. ADSB Radio stack item fully functional (Used for ADSB out). Changed: Alarm fields: Yellow caution now active with flashing red alarm. Added: New visual component in screen designer: Red/Green status indicator with currently 31 sources. Intended mainly for quick visual indication for various attached devices. Fixed: Issue related to long filenames. If long filenames crossed disk sector boundaries file system could become partialy corrupted. Changed: Nearest airports function "0" button now allows viewing of unlimited airport information without exiting the nearest airport function. Added: Support for new compass SP-6B. This allows a new compass operating mode where the EFIS is responsible for working out the heading from raw compas measurement data. This allows usage of the AHRS for tilt compensation and thus correct heading in turns even in high magnetic latitudes. The new system also offers detailed diagnostics to trouble shoot installation issues and gives 8 alignment points for correcting deviation. There is a new manual dedicated to the new compass, installation and calibration in the "Download" section. Changed: Engine horse power calculation formula This formula greatly improves on the previous version and gives very accurate results over a large engine performance band. The new calculations are based on research and test flights done by Calle Hedberg and John Smith. Document on the details is available in the "Download" section. EXCEL speadsheet for constant calculations as shown in the document is in the "Download" section. Added: GAMI spread functionality to the lean mode display. Lean mode now auto-scales the graphics between highest and lowest EGT for about the last 2 minutes. GAMI spread returns the result of fuel burn savings from the point the first cylinder peaks to the last cylinder peaking. Added: Introduced a new internal temperature monitoring and warning system as a result of findings that on some aircraft installations with unvented panels temperatures can rise to very high levels endangering the reliability of the systems. Overtemperature warnings will start as internal temperatures reach 60 degrees C (this means the hottest components will be at 90 degrees C at their surfaces) with critical warnings starting 10 degrees above that. The system will not perform a shutdown due to this and will continue to operate as long as possible. Added: Introduced new hardware watchdog support. This is enabled in this download but will only be functional once the boot loader has been updated. Please view instructions for downloading and installing the new boot loader below. The watchdog will restart the system automatically should anything cause to to freeze for more than one second. Updating to the new bootloader also reduces boot time to about 4 seconds from application of power to EFIS "alive". This is an approximate 2 second improvement. Added: support for a crash log. Should a software exception happen, the system will restart if the new bootloader has been installed. At the same time a crash log is created and stored in non-volatile memory. This log contains valuable information about the cause of the crash and can be forwarded to MGL for investigation. If a crash log exists, there is a new menu entry in Menu level 1 allowing you to save the log to a SD card or clear the log. Due to the systems ever increasing complexity, there is a need for enhanced information related to software errors in order to trace and fix issues effectively. Added: support for Sandia mode-C STX165 transponders. Either the STX165 or remote mount STX165 can be used. This transponder is connected to a serial port. The Radio stack transponder item is now fully functional. Added: support for MGL/Garrecht remote mount mode-S transponders via CAN bus. The VT0102-070 or VT0102-120 fitted with MGL's Garrecht interface module can be used via the Radio stack transponder item. Changed: Radio stack activation and item selection using the left keypad for quicker selection of an item for control. Note: The radio stack will be replaced in one of the next updates with individual items based on the current iEFIS development. Fixed: Total fuel level decimal point position. Changed: Minor enhancements of display items: On synthetic vision, approaching airfield data is now shown in a rounded, white rectangle for better readability. On screen alarms and status messages now displayed in smaller, rounded rectangles for a more pleasing display. Added: "Adhoc" goto waypoint. This has been added to the "Goto" screen. It allows entering a goto waypoint via lat/long and related information without having to create a new waypoint in the supplementary database. Added: In "Initial setup menu", item to change display pixel clock frequency (2 options plus standard). This allows shifting of EMI specctra for applications experiencing interference at certain frequencies. Added: Support for new, deeply dimmable LED backlight display. This new display is being put into production now for Odyssey (Voyager equivalent update pending - depends on release of equivalent supply by manufacturer). In addition to the above, there are many minor enhancements or changes in the system such as a new dynamic memory manager and other items. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G1 C 1.3.0.1 - 12 March 2012 Simulator and Binary Added protection around line drawing routine to prevent abort. A problem was introduced in 1.3.0.0 as a result of optimizing some operating system interfaces which resulted in skipping of some parameter checks. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G1 B 1.3.0.1 - 29 February 2012 Simulator and Binary Ported parts of G2 airspace code to G1 to support Navidata format 5 after reports of some systems crashing after update to current version. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G1 A1.3.0.1 - 20 february 2012. Simulator and Binary Added some changes to airspace code borrowed from G2 system to accomodate larger airspace definitions (Used by PocketFMS). Increased write timeout delay for SD cards. Some SD cards that take longer to write would fail if files copied to SD card. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G1 A1.3.0.0 - 7 february 2012. Simulator and Binary Cumulative update of various minor fixes and improvements. This release implements many of the stuctures and functions of the G2 system including the current autopilot related functionality with support of the MGL servos via the CAN bus. This release puts the G1 system very close in overall functionality to the G2 with the exception of: - No Radio Stack (This may be added in a further release) - No support for VPX The G1 can now use a "World" image to allow map zoom levels to continent wide proportions similar to that found on the G2. However, due to the palletized color scheme used on the G1, the "World.bmp" image of the G2 cannot be used. Instead, a version intended for the G1 only has been created. This is named "G1World.bmp" and you can download a copy at www.stratomaster.eu/download/MGL/ODYSSEY/G1World.zip This is a zip archive file. Please extract the file "G1World.bmp" and install this file using the relevant installation tasks function provided or copy it directly to the "Terrain" folder. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 1.0.3.1 - 3 November 2011. Simulator and Binary Added: option in GPS and NMEA setup menu to change baudrate to 19200 (active after restart) If baudrate set to 19200 additional NMEA sentences are output: GPGSA - sattelites in view ID numbers, HDOP and VDOP GPGBS - RAIM sentence. Result of satellite integrity monitoring (active if at least 5 satellites available) Changed: Polarity of transponder squat switch (if used with I/O extender). Switch on - ground mode. Please note that transponders usualy have a setup function requiring you to select the polarity. Switch on = level is low or ground. You need a pull up resistor to 12V to create the high level on the squat line. A suitable value is 4700 ohms. Fixed: Related to the recent update of the CAN driver software it is possible for the autopilot to not engage if the servos are powered up after the EFIS has already been running. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 1.0.3.0 - 13 October 2011. Simulator and Binary Fixed: Issue related to autopilot disengaging after some time if multiple MGL servos are selected. This issue was introduced in version 1.0.2.9, related to new CAN bus interface programming for CAN bus support of AHRS and compass. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 1.0.2.9 - 4 October 2011. Simulator and Binary Added: User selection for TAS calculation: Use ambient temperature or standard atmospheric model. Added: First version to support new SP6/SP7 CAN communications. SP6/7 CAN units will be available in January. Changed: ETE will now show in minutes:seconds if less than one hour, otherwise hours:minutes as before. Fixed: Several minor issues related to Interactive flightplan tool. Fixed: Vertical fonts, normal and transparent modes: Characters wider than 8 pixels where not drawn correctly. Fixed: Simulator: Vertical edged fonts where not drawn vertical. Improved: USB Master/Slave error recovery in case of communications interference. Removed: HITS box size selection in 3D setup menu. Now fixed size: 2000 ft. Several other minor fixes and improvements. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 1.0.2.8 - 22 July 2011. Simulator and Binary Added new setup item in "Operations setup" to select NTSC video sources. Currently, if a NTSC camera is connected, the bottom few lines of the image shows a repeat of the top. This is caused by the lower number of lines of the NTSC signal when compared with PAL. The new setup uses advanced vertical line interpolation scaling to stretch the image to fit without causing any noticable image artifacts. Please note that when you connect video sources, all sources must be either PAL or NTSC, you cannot mix. Impoved: The raster map TAWS overlay could result in some ant-aliased lines being drawn "funny" depending on their position in the drawing order. This is caused by a bug in the graphics chip. This has been fixed by using a work-around. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 1.0.2.7 - 19 July 2011. Simulator and Binary Added: TAWS overlay on raster maps (if enabled in setup). Previously this was only available on vector maps. Added: G-Force setup menu under Instruments setup. This allows setup of display limits, warning limits etc similar to other indicators. Negative G-Forces can be displayed with SP-7 (Previous SP products give absolute, total G-Force regardless of direction). Added: New support for rounded rectangles (frame, filled and frame filled types). This is a new selection in the DrawPrimitives screen item. Added: New AOA display component using "feather" display. Added: Dotted track line on raster maps. Changed: TAWS tarrain warning on map flashing has been replaced with a steady color display if vector maps are used (using terrain data to make the terrain backdrop). In case of Raster maps the terrain will flash slowly so to allow the underlying map information not to be lost. Improved: Rendering quality of "analog arc" screen component using subpixel rendering. Fixed: Plates component could have problems displaying a plate due to a racing condition between GPU and processor. This could lead to the plate flashing briefly before being erased This affected only the plates screen component. The plates viewer in the menu was fine. Fixed: Previous releases suffered from an ARINC label corruption problem. While this has impoved due to additional measures in previous releases this could still occur on some systems. The root cause of this has now finally been discovered and fixed in the slave processor responsible for ARINC label processing. Fixed: VPX Pro/Sport have slightly different communications protocol to upgraded VPX-75 used for testing here. This resulted in Pro and Sport units not operating correctly. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 1.0.2.6 - 23 June 2011. Simulator and Binary This is the first release to officially support Navidata created by Jeppesen JSUM download (Navidata file is created by Jeppesen based on subscription). Fixed: SD cards formated with FAT32 could not be used in the system. This has now been fixed. It is however recommended that FAT (or FAT16) be used for SD cards that are used for flight data recording as this allows slightly faster disk operation. Amended: VPX interface mainly with respect to flap and trim functionality, also changed ECB current component to start at "1" rather than "0", similar to other ECB components. Please amend your screen designs accordingly if required. Improved: Autopilot pitch control in conditions where internal GPS cannot be used and static pressure is used as backup. Also, if external GPS feed is used (such as from G430 or NMEA), internal GPS will still be used for autopilot vertical guidance whenever possible. Added support for SL40 radio as VHF 2 Added secondary algorithm to assist AP to track altitude to tighter limits in calm conditions Added black box flight data recorder feed (messages 1,2 and 3 supported at this stage) ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 1.0.2.5 - 31 mar 2011. Simulator and Binary Fixed bug related to airspaces containing large number of polygon points. This can lead to a serious system lockup. This has been introduced in version 1.0.2.4 due to some changes around airspace data processing. If you have upgraded to 1.0.2.4 please change to 1.0.2.5 even if your system does not appear to be affected. Added support for up to 8000 active airspaces within a 10x10 degree area around aircraft position (increased from 2000). Added support for airspaces with a large number of polygon points (previous limit was 400, now 800). Added support for V0 and V1 V speeds for airspeed tape as well as analog airspead indicator display. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 1.0.2.4 . Simulator and Binary Added first release of autopilot yaw axis support using a third servo (MGL servo only). Updated some autopilot related interfaces to reflect failed servos etc before engage attempt. New HSI routines and much improved autopilot coupling allows for smooth changes between navigation sources without autopilot disconnect. Complete rewrite of communications interface between ARINC processor and main processor to elliminate any chance of corrupted ARINC labels from making it through. Relevant mostly for G430 based installations. Complete overhaul of internal SPI based communications links between various processors in order to increase performance and high level of data rate handling mainly in support of new CAN interface based pheriperals. Further improvements of system startup time. Typical system startup from power on now down to about 5 seconds to live display Changes to ARINC based autopilot interface (for external autopilot based on GPSS feed. Changed from relative to absolute steering. Please see this document for details on operation and setup. Please note: The changes to the ARINC AP interface are still experimental. Feedback is appreciated. Added further options to synthetic vision based heading indications. Now true or magnetic headings, major cardinal headings (NSEW) or numeric tapes, also options on font size. Select in 3D View setup. Fixed a minor issue on the NMEA RMC output sentence: The ground speed was inserted incorrectly (it is good in the RMB message). Added support for Ground proximity warning and flap position over speed warning. See http://www.mglavionics.co.za/Docs/G2%20Ground%20proximity%20and%20flap%20overspeed%20setup.pdf for details. New sound files to support ground proximity and flap overspeed warnings to be found at http://www.mglavionics.co.za/Soundfiles.htm Ability to import a setupody.dat file into a real EFIS (Note the file must have been exported by a system that has the same software version number). Moved sound file install into "Installation tasks" menu. System is now able to support "Whole World" single Navidata file (as available soon through Jeppesen subscription). Minor work on XRX interface to improve resynchronizing communications (The XRX protocol has no means of synchonizing a message start making this a little tricky). ILS from SL30 was showing wrong direction. Fixed. Simulator: Added ability to use any folder or disk as "SD card". The target "SD card" is selected under the "Project" menu. This now permits use of a real SD card similar to a real EFIS if so desired. Added Radio stack component and default radio stacks to all built in screen. New Radio stack setup menu (enable radio stack items). Support for V10 radio with full remote control of radio. Note: Please set radio to Flip-Flop frequency selection and "Main+Standby" mode in the radio's setup using the radios own setup menu. The V10 radio needs to be updated to version 170111. Earlier versions of the firmware will not work. Follow this link for the V10 update software http://www.mglavionics.co.za/VHF10.htm Please note: Slave systems cannot currently set frequency of radio connected to primary system. In case of a V10, the idea is to wire each EFIS to the radio (serial ports 1 and 2) so you have a fully redundant system. Some changes to SL30/SL40 interface - EFIS now shows frequency selected on these radios (RX and TX need to be connected). Many internal changes to navigation source selection mechanisms partly prompted by radio stack functionality. Improvements to COM Extender initialization (COM extender might not initialize if plugged in after EFIS startup or EFIS startup takes longer than usual). Minor internal changes to autopilot engage. Preliminary documentation for radio stack (Text file): http://www.mglavionics.co.za/Docs/RadioStack.txt ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 1.0.2.3 - 8 December 2010. Simulator and Binary Fixed: Full Garmin 430W support re-established for G2. Some modes would not show HSI. Fixed: GPS satelite skyview (internal GPS). Changed: HSI now fixed needle colour scheme: Magenta for GPS, Green for VOR, Light Blue for ILS. Added: In case external GPS is selected for use (NMEA or ARINC), internal GPS will be used if no external GPS data received (Automatic GPS backup for external GPS systems). Regardless of GPS source, internal GPS source will now remain active for all advanced functions including use of 3D velocity for internal autopilot as well as using GPS based artificial horizon (GPS Flightpath). Internal/External GPS status messages added to System Status IMS function (SHIFT + IMS, button 6). Fixed: Full Garmin 430W support re-established for G2. Please note: As of release 1.0.2.1 VPX Gen 1 is no longer supported and will not work, you must upgrade your VPX Gen 1 to Gen 2 (This update is free. Contact Vertical Power for details on how to do this). All VPX configuration via the EFIS has been removed, the VPX script editor and scripts have no more use or function. The VPX systems are now configured through a Vertical Power utility that runs on a PC or Laptop. Fixed a timing issue related to ARINC that was introduced with the recent 1.0.2.0 upgrade. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 1.0.2.2 - 7 December 2010. Simulator and Binary Fixed: Automatic install of raster maps (install menu) Added: "Terrain aware glide range circle". This superimposes a circular range circle on a 2D map display (Vector map or Raster map) based on current glide or climb angle and terrain intersection. This function uses GPS, TAS, altitude, vertical speeds and installed terrain data to trace terrain impact points around the aircrafts position based on current glide ot climb angle. Operation of this new feature can be selected in the Map menu to show only below specific glide ratios or to show even if climbing. The system will attempt to use data from the GPS as primary choice but will fall back to other data sources if required. The glide circle is shown using a thick, semi-transparent ring that alternates between a dark to a lighter gray color. Given terrain and provided your glide or climb slope remains constant with respect to the terrain, your aircraft can reach any point within the indicated circle. This function assumes that wind is equal to the current effect experienced on the current track regardless of direction so the circle will expand or contract as you change heading in the presence of significant wind. The system is designed to trace for intersection points up to a radius of 55 nautical miles from the aircrafts current position. This function can be of significant assistance in the event of an engine failure at altitude and it is encouraged to practise simulated engine failures using this feature as guide. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 1.0.2.1 - 2nd November 2010. Simulator and Binary Added support for VPX Generation 2 systems. Please note: As of this release VPX Gen 1 is no longer supported and will not work, you must upgrade your VPX Gen 1 to Gen 2 (This update is free. Changed copilot mode speed readouts to always read full speeds and prefix the word "speed" if another message was injected before.. ------------------------------------------------------------------- 19 November 2010 ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 C 1.0.2.0 - Ported code to new version of compiler resulting in update of minor revision number. - Updated autopilot with final support for MGL servos on CAN bus. - Removed previous support for MGL servos from COM extender. COM extender now only used for Trio and PWM servos, MGL servos use only CAN bus if installed on Odyssey or Voyager. - Relevant MGL servo setup functions are in updated autopilot manual. - Implementation of support for Jeppesen Navdata converted to Navidata format via Jeppesen's JSUM data delivery system - ready to go live. - Added: Vertical domain AHRS (future refinement still required for full attitude support in the vertical domain). Activates at pitch angles above 45 degrees from the horizontal. - Added: Support for MGL ECB (electronic circuit breaker) system. - Improved: Data security against corruption during internal and external disk write under adverse conditions. ------------------------------------------------------------------- 15 october 2010 ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A1.0.1.4 - Added: Virtual AOA mode. Uses inputs from GPS, TAS, VSI and AHRS to calculate AOA valid for non and low banked attitudes. Calibration flight required similar to Differential AOA mode. - Added: Divert mode (NAV menu). Allows temporary suspension of active nav switching to heading bug until Divert canceled or new active nav source chosen. - Added: Special text items: Total fuel flow and Total fuel level based on selection in "Range and edurance setup" in "Fuel related setup". - Added: Direction arrows for all waypoint selection tools, editors and viewers. - Added: Live updates of direction arrows and distances in all waypoint selection tools, editors and viewers. Please note: Sort order of waypoints will be "frozen" as long as selector/editor/viewer is open to avoid order changing as you select an item. - Added: ARINC Autopilot steering mode selection: Absolute and Relative. Absolute mode means that steering labels are interpreted as "left/right, up/down". Relative mode means that steering labels are interpreted as "bank left/light, pitch up/down" relative to current attitude from AHRS. Some external ARINC AP may prefer the one type over the other. This is experimental. Feedback appreciated. - Added: New navigation option for HSI (select under "Setup navigation"). For GPS waypoint navigation the arrow in the HSI points to the waypoint (normal operation). The new option allows the arrow to be locked to the GPS OBS setting (this defaults to the track heading on waypoint selection but can be changed if you would like a different approach angle to the waypoint by using the GPS OBS setting). - Fixed: Interactive Flight plan tool map waypoint icons where not enabled/suppressed based on declutter selections (SHIFT+5). - Live Flight plan function updated: . Added magnetic course/bearing to existing true course/bearing . Added ability to select next waypoint in live flight plan using left/right arrow keys. . Changed: Proceeding to end of route (flight plan) will not cancel route anymore, route remains active. Routes can now only be canceled by menu level 1 function. . Removed "Divert" icon from Live Flight plan (Divert now part of NAV menu). - Replaced: "0" button nearest airport function and related functions: . If navigation setup "0 key selects airport info (active goto)" then . If Waypoint active (Route not active) and waypoint is airport will show airport information for this waypoint (Search order Primary then Secondary Navidata) with option to select "nearest airports" . If route is active will show Live Flightplan with option to select "nearest airports" . If none of the above is true will show "nearest airports" with new selection screen. ------------------------------------------------------------------- 01 october 2010 ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A1.0.1.3 Changed: Autopilot pitch servo magnitude upper limit setting from 20 to 40 Changed: New sound files (female voice) for simulator Added: Support for up to 4 MGL magnetic current sensors with a selection of 8 connecting points on two RDAC units. Added: Configuration of ranges, alarm and caution limits for all current measurement displays including current measurement from IOX shunt. Added: Detection of a GPS module hardware restart and live reconfiguration of GPS to allow continued use of GPS without a system restart being required. Added: Use of alarm output line on EFIS as transponder squat switch (linked to active flight detect, active low pull down). Added: Use any output on I/O extender as squat switch for transponder (linked to active flight detect). Requires IOX configuration script to specify output and action (requires release 3 of the IOX script file generator). Fixed: Creation of screen files based on built-in defaults for simulator (as bases for user modifications). Fixed: Simulation of Raster map install tasks in Simulator (will install raster maps if these are present in the "MMC" folder that simulates a SD card). ------------------------------------------------------------------- 18 august 2010 ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A1.0.1.1 Added : Support for import of Seattle Avionics Flight Plans (FDX file format, also available with the "FreeFlight" edition). These files, when imported will be converted to standard MGL "ERT" files and stored on the RAM disk, ready for execution. Added: Flight director on slave displays now will synchronize to master display regardless of who initiated a navigation. Added: Slave EFIS, if connected to an active master EFIS will not allow autopilot engagement. Improved: Terrain rendering using shading based on "sun in the west". This enhances small changes in terrain elevation due to brightness modulation based on relative angle of terrain to light source. This is available with all terrain rendering schemes and color selections. Fixed: AGL was not working after last release. Fixed: ARINC activity menu display could freeze if no current GPS fix is available. Changed: Compass mode: If operating with SP-2 and SP-4 combo, select "3D accel" and "Gyro stabilize compass" in compass setup. During turns, compass heading will be estimated using turn rate information from SP-4. Changed: Autopilot engagement text abreviated to use less width on display. Simulator: Added: Save and restore of current states and positions of most simulator windows. ------------------------------------------------------------------- 30 july 2010 ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 C1.0.0.9 Aviation databases: Major update relating to aviation databases. - Introduction of secondary navidata database. The system now supports a primary and a secondary navigation database. The primary database can be a subscription product, the secondary database is an open database (See document "MGL Avionics Map and aviation database installation"). Supplementary waypoint database continues to be included. - Currently active navidata "regions" for both primary and secondary Navidata are selectable independently in the NAV or Navigation setup menus. - Full support for Jeppesen database included with this update but disabled pending finalization of testing phase. - New "Direct to" goto menu, primary and secondary navidata waypoint viewers with new graphics and waypoint source identification (N = primary navidata, S=secondary navidata, W=supplementary waypoint database). New functionality: - This release introduces a textual "system log". Important system events and information are logged to a viewable database which also activates a Viewer automatically for important events. The viewer can be activated via The information management system (IMS function, button 6). Events (such as entering an airspace) are logged with time. This event log maintains the last 128 events and is retained during system "off" time. Autopilot: - A new pitch setup function has beed added "Pitch change to VSI reaction". This has three settings "Slow, medium, fast". It is used to inform the AP of how fast (or slow) your aircraft reacts to big changes in pitch attitude to resultant changes in VSI. As a guideline - aircraft such as RV-7 will likely find "medium" a good setting. Typical GA aircraft might use "slow" while very nimble aircraft such as aerobatic aircraft would derive best performance from a "fast" setting. This setting gives the AP an idea of how long to wait after a larger pitch change before getting the desired results. This prevents possible overcontrol during the "bend-over" phase of a climb or descent. Moved System Status menu to IMS menu (Button 6), added information display for current primary and secondary navidata files. Added new item under 3D View menu (Menu level 2): 3D terrain lookahead color scheme Added new items under System Setup -> Voltage/Current setup: Main voltage, Backup voltage and Current measurement source Fixed issue related to terrain cache which could result in incorrect terrain display. Changed the way terrain caching works using background task to prepare terrain for next area in order to smooth transition to a new area. 1.0.0.8 - 1 July 2010 Eigth release update. Simulator and Binary Improvements to GPS derived attitude estimator - smoother performance at higher bank angles, better accuracy of bank angle over larger speed range. Changes to Autopilot: - Ascent/descent profiles changed to allow application of target vertical speeds closer to target altitude. - Added voice/sound support to autopilot. - Added autopilot message/sound instructions to increase/decrease power when needed (start of ascent/descent and intercept of target altitude). Odyssey simulator: Added support to play sound files. Sound files in wav format can be used from Enigma Sound application. Please update your sound file in Enigma (link to new sound file above, instructions below). If you use the Enigma Sound application to manage your own sounds, please download latest version to include support for new sounds. Changes to USB protocol to facilitate improved master/slave operation. Please note: If you are using an Enigma slave - please disconnect the USB, the protocols are not compatible. This will be corrected with a future Enigma update. Several minor fixes: - Vector mapping - changed drawing order to get writing ontop of polygons. - Better clipping of track on map display. - At low zoom ranges, color of ocean was red. Changed back to blue. ------------------------------------------------------------------- 21 mai 2010 ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G2 A1.0.0.7 - Fix: Waypoint search could get stuck if new NACO/FAA file is used (manual search in waypoint viewer or direct-to). - Fix: Undefined airspace limits as are present in some European data could cause a system lockup during map zoom. Autopilot updates: - Flight director can now be switched off (it however will be on if internal autopilot is engaged). - Flight director color is magenta if autopilot is not engaged, white if autopilot has control (internal autopilot). - Major work on autopilot system: . Easy setup for both bank and pitch. Only one setting affecting sensitivity with a three step selection of bank or pitch "force". . Bank servo magnitude setting scaled down to match settings of pitch servo magnitude. Expect a Bank servo magnitude setting of "10" if you where using a "30" previously. . Split autopilot inner loop into seperate algorithms for MGL and Trio servos to allow best possible match to either servo. . If using a Trio servo, expect Pitch servo magnitude settings in the region of "6" to "15" depending on pitch sensitivity of aircraft. . Automatic setting of servo deadband for Trio servos. . No more "running" of Trio servos when AP not engaged. . Addition of autopilot remote control via IOX (download version 2.0 of IOX script editor to add functions): + Remote engage of altitude hold, VSI hold and 180 degree turn modes as well as disengage. + Single button "engage/disengage". ------------------------------------------------------------------- 21 mai 2010 ODYSSEY/VOYAGER G1 A1.2.0.2 Autopilot updates: - Flight director can now be switched off (it however will be on if internal autopilot is engaged). - Flight director color is magenta if autopilot is not engaged, white if autopilot has control (internal autopilot). - Major work on autopilot system: . Obstacles are shown on synthetic vision screen in true perspective size if aircraft is within 1000 ft of highest point of obstacle. - Revised Flight Planner application program which now contains obstacle database will be made available in a few days. - Currently NACO obstacle database (North America) is supported. Other databases may be added in future as they become available. - Added function in 3D setup menu to enable / disable Flight Director display. Changed: - AP - Now possible to engage VSI or Pitch hold without valid GSI solution selected. - AP - Added automatic setting for Trio servo deadband (will be set to value of "6" without user intervention). - AP - Changes to inner loop for pitch angle control (Trio servo only): Higher update frequency with smaller steps, Rate feedback on PI entry. - NAV - It is now possible to have simultaneous active GPS navigation as well as GVOR (with radials and GDME) - for both active and secondary VOR. If all these sources are active, selecting primary NAV source selects which one is shown on the HSI (and with that, active as source for the autopilot and flight director). In case of GVOR active, frequency display toggles between frequency of NAV source and identifier. Please note that GVOR setup has to be completed and it is also recommended to enable the HSI for GVOR source and GPS NAV to get the full benifit. - Major rewrite of terrain map background rendering (vector map terrain background) to take advantage of the G2 hardware capabilities. Colors are now chosen based on terrain elevation 1000 ft steps with augmentation of 1000 ft transition lines. Added relief shading based on steepness of terrain. Fixed: - Horizon setup - changing message type could only be done once per power cycle. - Changed SD card writing routines for external SD cards to prevent issues caused by slow write times in particular with older generation SD cards. ------------------------------------------------------------------- 09 april 2010 Odyssey/Voyager"G2" A1.0.0.4 FlightOps A1.0.0.0 Application : - This version introduces terrain texturing for synthetic vision.
